This evening three students participated in a Philosophy competition at Wildern School. Topics for discussion included “If God is benevolent and omnipotent, why would he allow suffering in the world?” and “Is it ever acceptable to be a bystander?”. Each student was placed in a group with students from other local secondary schools.
I am extremely proud to share with you the result – our boys finished second overall in the competition. In addition to this fantastic achievement, one of our students won Best Male Philosopher in the year 9-11 category.
We could not have asked for a better advertisement for our school. The boys received congratulations not only from the adults but other students as well. Several staff – including those from Southampton University – spoke to me about them afterwards in glowing terms.
