It is the aim of King Richard School to mark sure that 100% of our student leave school to go on to further education and training. Over the past few years well over 90% of students from this school went on to further education and many have gone on from there to university.
Of course university is not appropriate for everyone, but foe those students who would enjoy and benefit from a higher level of study, it is important for us to encourage and support them to be able to do just that.
For a number of these students their choice of future career can, sometimes, be dependent on their choice of university. For these students the school has developed a special programme to encourage them to consider one of the UK’s top universities or even one of the top European universities. This programme will identify those students who have the potential to achieve A or A* grades in all of their GCSEs which is the level of academic achievement they will require.
However, to gain entry to one of the top universities, students need more just A/ A* grades and this programme will seek to support them, not just to aspire to a top university but also to provide the skills and experience necessary to achieve a place.
The progress includes visits to universities such as Oxford, Imperial College, Royal Holloway, Sussex, and Southampton. It also included additionnal mentoring and specific academies prgrammes organised by these universities.
